Questo Casale di Vico Equense è certamente antico, la sua origine è testimoniata da reperti risalenti a epoche remote. Il nome forse detto dai latini “Titianum” dalla famiglia “Titia” a cui l’Imperatore Augusto aveva assegnato in loco vasti possedimenti terrieri, dove essi costruirono la propria casa e un villaggio situato sopra un monte, sovrastato da altri disposti in bella riga. In esso si respira un’aria frizzantina e si godono ridenti scene campestri. Le sue terre quasi tutte in pendio sono nella maggior parte boscose; mentre l’abitato che conserva le sue belle caratteristiche è sparso su di un ameno declivio. Per secoli gli abitanti di Ticciano hanno lavorato nei boschi vivendo con il trasporto della legna, la produzione del carbone, di frutta e dei prodotti della terra coltivata con tanta fatica. Il casale va rinomato per i suoi squisiti “caciocavalli” e per la maestria nella costruzione di cesti di castagno. Negli ultimi decenni ha conosciuto un grande sviluppo, il settore della ristorazione.  Da visitare la cinquecentesca chiesa parrocchiale che vanta molta antichità. È sotto il patrocinio di S. Michele Arcangelo, nella chiesa vi è anche la Congregazione del SS. Rosario istituita nel 1776.

This hamlet of Vico Equense is certainly ancient, its origin is testified by finds dating back to ancient times, the name perhaps said by the Latins “Titianum” from the “Titia” family to whom the Emperor Augustus had assigned the vast landed estates, where they built their house and a village situated on a mountain, overlooked by others arranged in a beautiful line. In it one breathes a crisp air and enjoys delightful country scenes. Its lands, almost all of which are on a slope, are for the most part wooded, while the village, which retains its beautiful characteristics, is spread out on a pleasant slope. For centuries, the inhabitants of Ticciano have worked in the woods, living off the transport of wood, the production of charcoal, fruit and the products of the laboriously cultivated land. The hamlet is renowned for its delicious ‘caciocavalli’ cheese and for its skill in making chestnut baskets. Over the last few decades, the restaurant sector has developed considerably: the hospitality and skill of the cooks, together with considerable investments to renew the structures of the entire sector, have been the ingredients that have allowed a considerable leap in quality. The presence in Ticciano of a precious resort created by the star chef Antonino Cannavacciulo will certainly be a harbinger of ever greater success. The sixteenth-century parish church is worth a visit. It boasts many ancient origins and is under the patronage of St. Michael the Archangel; in the church there is also the Congregation of the Holy Rosary founded in 1776.
