San Salvatore è situato sulla spianata di un monte, che sorge a cavaliere di Bonea. All’est è fiancheggiato da monti altissimi, che appartengono al massiccio del Faito. L’estensione del casale di S. Salvatore è ben ampia; il numero dei suoi abitanti supera le 2000 persone. L’antica chiesa parrocchiale è sotto il titolo del SS. Salvatore, e nelle sue pertinenze nel luogo di “Avigliano” si trova e, merita di essere visitata, la cappella della Madonna delle Grazie, che forse corrisponde a quella di S. Maria a Cavallo che nel 1545 formava la parrocchia per l’appunto del più antico casale di “Avigliano”. In questa chiesa nel 1762 fu istituita una Confraternita sotto il titolo del Rosario con tutte le indulgenze, privilegi e prerogative concesse dalla S. Sede a S. Domenico fondatore dell’ordine dei predicatori.

This beautiful hamlet is situated on the flat part of a mountain, which stands astride Bonea. To the east it is flanked by very high mountains, which belong to the Faito massif. The extension of the hamlet of S. Salvatore is very wide; the number of its inhabitants exceeds 2000 people. The ancient parish church is under the title of the SS. Salvatore, and in its appurtenances in the place of “Avigliano” is found and, it deserves to be visited the chapel of the Madonna delle Grazie, that perhaps corresponds to that one of S. Maria a Cavallo that in 1545 formed the parish of the most ancient hamlet of “Avigliano”. In this church, in 1762, a Confraternity was established under the title of the Rosary with all the indulgences, privileges and prerogatives granted by the Holy See to St. Dominic, founder of the Order of Preachers.
