La frazione di S. Andrea, attraversata dalla strada R. Bosco, si trova al confine tra il casale di Bonea e quello di Massaquano, con un ampio territorio agricolo pianeggiante. Il centro, che nei secoli passati non ha mai avuto dignità di frazione, per il limitato numero di abitanti e la modesta attività economica, ha invece subito in epoca recente uno sviluppo notevolissimo sia edilizio che abitativo e oggi conta più di 1569 abitanti, per la maggior parte dediti all’agricoltura, all’allevamento bovino, alla produzione lattiero casearia, al commercio e alla ristorazione. Al centro del casale si trovano due piccole chiese, la più antica è la cappella di S. Antonio di Padova, costruita nel 1602 da un certo Pietro Parascandolo, il quale il 2 ottobre 1648 vi costituì anche una cappellania, ottenendone il patronato per sé e i suoi eredi. Al principio del 1700 l’eredità passò al notaio Francesco Cioffi, i cui discendenti la tennero fino al 1845. Successivamente il Vescovo di Sorrento “Ruggiero” concesse la cappellania al signor Certo Carlo Cuomo di Napoli a condizione che lo stesso riparasse la cappella che si trovava all’epoca in pessime condizioni. Attualmente, la stessa è mantenuta dai fedeli del luogo e dopo recenti lavori di restauro è in buone condizioni. La cappella di S. Antonio di Padova è sotto la giurisdizione della parrocchia di Bonea.

The hamlet of S. Andrea, crossed by the road ‘R. Bosco’, lies on the border between the hamlets of ‘Bonea’ and ‘Massaquano’. Subsequently the Bishop of Sorrento “Ruggiero” granted the chaplaincy to Mr. Certo Carlo Cuomo of Naples on condition that he repaired the chapel which was in very bad conditions. It is currently maintained by the local faithful and after recent restoration work is in good condition. The chapel of St Anthony of Padua is under the jurisdiction of the parish of Bonea.
