THE MINEROLOGY MUSEUM OF CAMPANIA

Established in 1992 by the Discepolo Foundation, it is one of the most important scientific museum of the Campania Region thanks to the amount, diversity and rarity of the exhibited specimen.

Since 1997 the paleontological section has been opened and it is devoted to dinosaur fossils (eggs, claws, teeth) and splendid specimens of Notosauro, Mesosauro, Ammolite.

In 2001 the Gems Section opened to visitors thanks to the donation of Ezio De Felice and Irene Sbriziolo while in 2003 the Museum inaugurate the Anthropological Section where primitive lithic tools are shown. Since 2014, a showcase has been dedicated to shells with 150 specimens donated by Antonino Casola. Also 150 rare shells, donated by Antonino Casola, are exhibited. The “Grafene”, the material that is revolutionizing the industrial world, has been donated to the Museum by Andre Geim, Nobel Prize in Physics and one of the 15 Nobel Prize winners who visited the cultural structure on the occasion of the Scientific Prize ” Capo d’Orlando ”, organized since 1999 by the Discepolo Foundation.
